Game 55 – Anaheim Ducks @ Detroit Red Wings – Good to be Lucky

The Good

You gotta be good to be lucky, and lucky to be good. Larkin’s goal in the 1st, unassisted, was one of the most disrespectful things I’ve seen. The way he sells it before he cuts around is just solid gold. I love this kid and can’t wait to see him with us for the rest of his career.

Nielsen scored later (man he’s been hot that’s a 5 game point streak for him now) and that was only the 9th shot of the game for us. It was, per Ken Daniels, the first shot since Larkin’s goal way back in the 1st. Is Gibson sick or something? He looked terrible on both of those goals, but again. Rather be lucky than good.

Jimmy Howard was phenomenal. 34 shots for the Ducks and the only one he let in was just downright unfair. Every time I think I know what goalie I want to keep for the next few seasons I realize that the other goalie is also playing really well and I’m right back to not being able to decide. I’m not even going to call who I think will get traded, because as soon as I do I know I’ll be wrong.

The Bad

Well getting outshot 2-1 through the game is not what I consider good hockey but at the same time we ended that with a 2 goal lead and we blew our last 3 goal leads with dominant offense, so maybe I’m not even qualified to talk about this shit anymore. We must have done something right, because the only goal they scored on us was a fluke and HELD A THIRD PERIOD LEAD

The WTF?

It rolled up on his shoulder! Why won’t you let Howie have nice things, like shutouts God? WHY? What did he do to deserve this?
