I missed most of the first period apart from some on the radio and the very tail end, but that’s okay because apparently nothing happened in it.
The 2nd and 3rd period were all Red Wings though. The Sabres got absolutely hammered by the Wings offense.
Luke Glendening is revitalized this season. I’ve been very happy with his net front play and honestly he might be one of the best deals for a bottom 6 player on the team. He also has 5 goals already (one less that Sidney Crosby) and is continuing to make stuff happen in close.

Tatar scored an awesome laser of a shot that Lehner honestly got a good deal of, the most impressive part of which is that Buffalo let him walk the point for like 5 seconds before he got it off. Buffalo is, perhaps unsurprisingly, not very good. You cannot leave the other team alone that long. Larkin scored his 4th with a great rebound from Ouellet and thankfully he continues to be fantastic this season. Abdelkader even had 2 assists tonight to be not completely terrible (getting his face beat seems to have helped him).
Jimmy Howard is still the team’s MVP this season. He should have had a shutout tonight, no questions asked.
This was a great game and I don’t want to complain about it. They dominated the Sabres for most of the night. The only thing I could think of that was made me go “Ohhhhhhh no” was the fact that we somehow gave up a breakaway on the 5 on 3 powerplay (which man, doesn’t that miss Martin Frk). That could have made the game go the other way really quick.
Also, and maybe this isn’t the best time to bring it up, but what’s been up with Zetterberg? It’s like his age has finally caught up with him. He’s just looked kind of off lately. It almost looks like teams have been focusing up on him more, but if so then maybe that’s why the kids have gotten to run so wild. Whatever it is, I’d love it if he would come back to the way he started the season.
How the hell was that not goaltender interference on Okposo? He completely knocked Howard to the opposite side of the crease! I’m really glad I couldn’t find a clip of this because I didn’t want to be angrier on such an otherwise fantastic evening.
Sunday against Colorado. Poor, Ducheneless Colorado. Better get another W ready.
